Amberd Fortress | Ashtarak

Amberd Fortress is a 7th-century Armenian fortress located on the slopes of Mount Aragats. It is situated approximately 50 kilometers northwest of Yerevan.

Public transport to Ashtarak is frequent from Yerevan; however, onward transport to the fortress requires a private vehicle or taxi.

Construction of Amberd Fortress began in the 7th century, with significant additions made by the Pahlavuni family in the 11th century.
