Bromley Mountain was developed as a ski area in 1936 by the Bromley Ski Club. It was one of the earliest ski resorts in Vermont. The mountain is part of the Green Mountains, a range formed by ancient geological processes including uplift and erosion over millions of years. The area supports a temperate forest ecosystem.

Bromley Mountain is known for its unique "Bromley-Breeze," a prevailing wind that often keeps the mountain cooler than surrounding areas, even in summer.
