Historical & Ecological Origin
The park was established as part of the land reclamation project that created the Fontvieille district in the 1970s. It was officially inaugurated in 1981, designed as a green space to complement the new residential and industrial areas. The Princess Grace Rose Garden within the park was opened in 1984, dedicated to Princess Grace of Monaco.
Key Highlights & Activities
Visitors can walk through the Princess Grace Rose Garden, which contains over 300 varieties of roses. The park features a large artificial lake with ducks and swans, offering opportunities for observation. Children's play areas are available. Several sculptures, including works by Blake and Arman, are displayed along the pathways, forming an open-air art exhibition.
Infrastructure & Amenities
Public restrooms are located near the main entrance and within the rose garden area. Extensive tree cover and pergolas provide shade throughout the park. 4G/5G cellular signal is consistently available. A small kiosk offering refreshments is present during peak season; otherwise, cafes and restaurants are located within 0.2km at the Port de Fontvieille.
Best Time to Visit
The park is accessible year-round. For optimal rose viewing, May and June are the best months when the roses are in full bloom. Morning hours (9:00-11:00) offer softer light for photography, particularly in the rose garden. The park remains pleasant during summer evenings due to shade and cooler temperatures near the water features.
