Historical & Ecological Origin
The trail was developed on the former right-of-way of the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Construction of the trail was completed in phases, with significant portions opened in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Gravois Creek watershed is a riparian ecosystem supporting a variety of local flora and fauna.
