Historical & Ecological Origin
Jetty Island was constructed in the early 20th century as part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project to improve navigation in the Everett harbor. It was formed by dredging sand and gravel from the Snohomish River delta and depositing it to create a breakwater and expand the shoreline. Ecologically, it functions as a coastal habitat, supporting shorebirds and marine life.

Facts & Legends
Jetty Island is one of the largest man-made islands in Puget Sound. A local anecdote suggests that during exceptionally low tides, a sandbar connecting the island to the mainland can be exposed, though this is rare and not a reliable access method.
