The DASH Bus Line 101 stops at the intersection of Henry Street and George Washington Memorial Parkway, requiring a 0.4km (0.25 mile) walk to the park entrance.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The Jones Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1855 and served as a navigational aid for ships entering the Potomac River. It was automated in 1927 and decommissioned in 1962. The park itself is situated on land that was historically part of the Mount Vernon estate and later developed for industrial and recreational purposes. The shoreline is a mix of natural riverbank and man-made structures.
