Parking is available at the site entrance on a gravel lot. No public transport directly serves the ruins; private vehicle or taxi is required.

The site is believed to have been occupied by the Lenca people, with evidence suggesting construction and habitation between 800 and 1200 AD. Its original purpose was likely a regional center for trade and ceremony. The area is characterized by tropical rainforest ecology.
