A primary access point is located at the intersection of 15th Street and Grand Avenue, approximately 1 mile east of downtown Kansas City. Parking is available at designated trailheads, including the one at 15th and Grand, which offers approximately 50 spaces. Public transportation options include the KCATA bus lines 11 and 19, which stop within a 0.5-mile radius of the 15th and Grand access point.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The MKT Trail follows the former right-of-way of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT), also known as the "Katy" line. The railroad was established in the late 19th century. The conversion to a recreational trail began in the late 20th century.
