The park's primary visual elements include the expansive blue water of Lake Ontario, a wide sandy beach, and a large, open green space. The historic Dentzel Carousel, constructed in 1905, is a prominent feature with its hand-carved animals and ornate decorative elements. The pier is constructed of concrete and steel.

Historical & Ecological Origin
The park was established as a public space in the late 19th century. The Dentzel Carousel was originally located at the Ontario Beach Amusement Park, which operated from the 1880s until the 1940s. The beach itself is a natural formation along the southern edge of Lake Ontario, a remnant of glacial activity.

Facts & Legends
The Dentzel Carousel is one of only a few original Dentzel carousels still in operation in the United States. It is a National Historic Landmark. A local anecdote suggests that on clear nights, the lights from Toronto, Canada, are visible across Lake Ontario from the pier.
