The estate features a 40-room Queen Anne-style mansion constructed from Medina sandstone. The grounds encompass 50 acres of formal gardens, including a rose garden, a formal Italian garden, a Japanese garden, and a rock garden. Mature trees, including oak, maple, and pine, are present throughout the property. A greenhouse complex is also part of the site.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The mansion was built between 1885 and 1887 for Mary Clark Thompson, widow of New York Senator and Secretary of the Treasury, William Henry Harrison Thompson. The gardens were developed in the early 20th century. The site is situated on glacial till deposits characteristic of the Finger Lakes region.
