The architecture incorporates modern design elements with traditional Maldivian influences. The surrounding lagoon water is consistently clear, exhibiting shades of turquoise and blue, with fine, white coral sand beaches.

Amilla Fushi is situated in the Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Access is primarily via seaplane from Velana International Airport (MLE) in Malé. The seaplane transfer takes approximately 30 minutes. Alternatively, guests can take a domestic flight to Dharavandhoo Airport (DRV) followed by a 10-minute speedboat transfer. There is no direct road access from the mainland.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The island itself is a natural coral formation, typical of the Maldivian archipelago. Amilla Fushi as a resort was developed and opened in 2014. Its purpose is high-end tourism and hospitality.
Key Highlights & Activities
Activities include snorkeling and diving in the house reef and nearby dive sites, including Hanifaru Bay (seasonal for manta rays and whale sharks). Water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and jet skiing are available. The resort offers various dining experiences, spa treatments, and private beach access.
Infrastructure & Amenities
The resort provides private villa accommodations, multiple restaurants and bars, a spa, a fitness center, and a kids' club. Restrooms are available in all villas and public areas. Shade is provided by natural vegetation and resort structures. Cell phone signal (4G/5G) is generally available throughout the island.
Best Time to Visit
The dry season, from December to April, offers the most favorable weather with low humidity and minimal rainfall. For manta ray and whale shark sightings in Hanifaru Bay, the period from May to November is optimal, coinciding with the southwest monsoon. The best time of day for photography is typically early morning or late afternoon due to softer light conditions.
Facts & Legends
Amilla Fushi is known for its "Javvu" spa, which incorporates traditional Maldivian healing practices. A unique aspect of the island's marine life is the presence of a resident pod of dolphins that frequently visits the surrounding waters.
