Public transport options are limited; the nearest bus stop, 'Ruggell, Post', is 2.8km south, served by bus line 11. Cycling paths connect the platform to the wider regional network.

The Biotope Viewing Platform was constructed in 2010 as part of ongoing conservation and public education initiatives for the Ruggeller Riet. The Riet itself is a significant wetland area, classified as a fen landscape, which developed from a former peat bog.
