Elizabeth Quay is a mixed-use waterfront precinct located in Perth, Western Australia. It serves as a public space and a hub for entertainment and recreation on the Swan River.
Visual Characteristics
The quay features a 400-meter pedestrian bridge with a 82.5-meter high observation tower, known as the "Spanda." The precinct is constructed with a combination of concrete, steel, and locally sourced stone. Paved walkways and landscaped areas with native Australian flora are present throughout. The water of the Swan River is visible along the northern and western edges.

Ferry services operate from the Elizabeth Quay Ferry Terminal to various locations along the Swan River.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The development of Elizabeth Quay commenced in 2012 and was completed in 2016. It was designed by ARM Architecture. The project involved reclaiming land from the Swan River to create a new public space and connect the city center to the waterfront. The Swan River is an estuary, formed by the confluence of the Avon, Toodyay, and Ellen Brook rivers, flowing into the Indian Ocean.
