Kasbah Aghanaj is a historic fortified granary located in the Anti-Atlas Mountains, approximately 15 kilometers northeast of Tiznit, Morocco.

The structure is constructed from pisé (rammed earth) and stone, exhibiting a natural, earthy brown color. It features multiple levels of rooms and storage areas built into the hillside, with a central courtyard. The architecture is functional and defensive, typical of traditional Moroccan kasbahs.

Location & Access Logistics

Access to Kasbah Aghanaj is via the R107 regional road from Tiznit. After approximately 12 kilometers, turn north onto a well-maintained dirt track for the remaining 3 kilometers. Parking is available at the base of the kasbah. No public transport directly serves the site.

Kasbah Aghanaj dates back to the 17th century, built by local Berber tribes for communal grain storage and defense. Its construction reflects traditional vernacular architecture adapted to the arid mountain environment.

Exploration of the internal chambers and staircases is permitted. Visitors can observe the construction techniques and the layout of the storage facilities. Photography of the exterior and interior is possible.
