Visual Characteristics
The beach consists of imported sand, forming a crescent shape approximately 1 kilometer in length. The water is typically calm and shallow, with a light brown hue due to sediment runoff. Vegetation, primarily palm trees and scrub, borders the landward side of the beach.

Historical & Ecological Origin
Kep Beach was constructed in the mid-20th century by the Cambodian government as a public amenity. The sand was imported to create a usable beach area. Ecologically, the area is part of the coastal plain of the Gulf of Thailand.

Best Time to Visit
The best time for photography is during the late afternoon, approximately 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, when the sun is lower in the sky. The dry season, from November to April, offers the most favorable weather conditions with minimal rainfall. High tide is not a significant factor for beach access.
Facts & Legends
A local anecdote suggests that the imported sand was sourced from the beaches of Sihanoukville. The beach was a popular destination for the Cambodian elite during the French colonial period and the Sangkum Reastr Niyum era.
