Public transport is serviced by Malta Public Transport bus routes, including route 81 from Valletta and route 119 from Malta International Airport.

Marsaxlokk Bay is a natural geological indentation, historically utilized as a harbor since Phoenician times. The village developed around this natural port, becoming a primary fishing hub. Its strategic location made it a landing point for Ottoman forces during the Great Siege of Malta in 1565 and for Napoleon's invasion in 1798.
