Construction of the Minnesota History Center was completed in 1992. The architect was Hammel, Green & Abrahamson, Inc. (HGA). Its original purpose was to consolidate the Minnesota Historical Society's collections, exhibits, and administrative offices into a single, modern facility, replacing older, dispersed locations.
