The interior includes a grand ballroom, a ballroom, and numerous reception rooms, many decorated with gilded plasterwork and elaborate woodwork.

Rosecliff was designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White and built between 1898 and 1902 for Theresa Fair Oelrichs, the widow of mining magnate James Graham Fair. It was intended as a summer "cottage" and a venue for elaborate social events. The mansion's design was inspired by the Grand Trianon at Versailles.
