Parking is available along the roadside adjacent to the beach. Boat transfers are not a primary access method for this specific location.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The beach is a product of volcanic activity from the Concepción and Maderas volcanoes, which formed Ometepe Island. The dark sand is composed of eroded volcanic rock. The lake itself is a large freshwater body formed within the Nicaraguan depression.

Best Time to Visit
The best time of day for photography is generally late afternoon when the sun is lower, casting longer shadows and illuminating the volcanoes. The dry season, from December to April, offers the most consistent weather. There are no significant tidal influences to consider.
Facts & Legends
A local legend suggests that the sand's dark color is due to the tears of a heartbroken indigenous princess who watched her warrior lover depart for battle and never return. The beach is also known for its freshwater "waves" generated by wind action on the lake.
