Location & Access Logistics

The garden is situated approximately 15 kilometers southwest of Chaweng Beach. Access is via a steep, unpaved road off Route 4171. The final 2 kilometers require a 4WD vehicle or a significant uphill walk. Parking is limited to a small, informal area at the entrance. Public transport does not directly serve the garden; private transport or organized tours are the primary access methods.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The garden was conceived and constructed by local artist Khun Nim Thongsuk, beginning in 1976 and continuing for approximately 12 years. The original purpose was to create a sanctuary and a place for meditation. The site is located within a natural hillside environment, characterized by tropical rainforest flora.

Visitors can observe the diverse collection of sculptures. Walking the designated paths allows for exploration of the entire site. Photography is permitted. The elevated position offers panoramic views of the surrounding island and sea.

Basic restroom facilities are available near the entrance. Some shaded areas are provided by the natural tree canopy. Cell phone signal is intermittent. There are no food vendors on-site; visitors should bring their own provisions.

Best Time to Visit

The best time of day for photography is in the morning, between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM, when the sunlight is less direct. The dry season, from December to April, offers the most favorable weather conditions. There are no tidal considerations for this inland location.

Facts & Legends

Khun Nim Thongsuk reportedly spent his life savings and personal labor to create the garden, believing it was his spiritual duty. A local belief suggests that the spirits of the deities depicted in the statues protect the garden.
