No public transport directly serves the reserve; private vehicles or organized tours are required.

Established in 1971, Solio Ranch was initially a private ranch. It was converted into a rhino sanctuary in the 1980s to protect endangered black and white rhinos. The area's ecological classification is savanna grassland, supporting a diverse range of herbivores and predators.
