Access is available directly from Wichita Street and Water Street. Public parking is available in a dedicated lot adjacent to the park, accessible from Water Street. The Wichita Transit bus route 11 stops at the intersection of Main Street and Waterman Street, which is a 0.4km walk to the park entrance.
Historical & Ecological Origin
WaterWalk Wichita was developed as part of a larger urban revitalization project initiated in the early 2000s. Construction was completed in 2007. The project's purpose was to create a central public gathering space and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the Arkansas River corridor. The water system is supplied by the city's municipal water supply and recirculates treated water.

The park is accessible year-round, but water features are typically operational from April through October, weather permitting. The best months for comfortable outdoor activity are May, June, September, and October.

A unique aspect of the water system is its ability to be drained and refilled within a 24-hour period for maintenance. During the annual Wichita River Festival, the main channel serves as a focal point for events.
