Vegetation on the cliff tops is sparse, typical Mediterranean garrigue, with some reeds present near the freshwater spring.

Xlendi Bay is situated on the southwest coast of Gozo, approximately 4 km southwest of Victoria (Rabat), the island's capital. Access is primarily via Triq ix-Xlendi from Victoria. Limited street parking is available along the promenade, and a small public car park is located near the bay's entrance, which can be congested during peak season. Public transport is provided by bus route 306, connecting Xlendi Bay directly to the Victoria Bus Terminal.

A notable fact is the presence of a freshwater spring, locally known as L-Għejun, which flows into the bay. The name "Xlendi" is believed by some to originate from the Byzantine Greek word "Xylo," meaning wood, potentially indicating its historical role as a timber trading point.
