Turn east onto County Road 100. Parking is available in a designated gravel lot at the site entrance. No public transport services operate directly to the site.

The site preserves the location of the Battle of Carthage, which occurred on July 5, 1861. This engagement was fought between Union forces under Colonel Franz Sigel and Confederate forces under Brigadier General James McBride.
