Garden Creek Falls is located approximately 10 miles southwest of downtown Casper. Access is via Casper Mountain Road (WY-220). Turn onto Garden Creek Road, a well-maintained gravel road, for approximately 1.5 miles. A designated parking area is available at the trailhead. No public transport services this location.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The falls are a result of erosion acting upon the Precambrian granite of Casper Mountain. The area is part of the Laramie Formation, characterized by sedimentary rocks overlying older igneous and metamorphic basement rocks.
Key Highlights & Activities
Hiking is the primary activity. A moderate 1.5-mile roundtrip trail leads from the parking area to the base of the falls. The trail includes some elevation gain. Photography is possible from the trail and at the falls' base.

A small, unpaved parking lot is available. No restrooms or potable water are present at the trailhead. Cell phone signal is intermittent to non-existent. No food vendors are located at the site.

For optimal water flow, visit in May or June. Mid-morning offers direct sunlight on the falls. Late afternoon provides shade on the trail.

Local lore suggests that early settlers used the creek for water and found the falls a reliable source during dry periods. The granite formations are estimated to be over 1.4 billion years old.
