The Honolulu Zoo is home to the world's only exhibit of the critically endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. A local anecdote suggests that the zoo's oldest resident, a Galapagos tortoise named "Kamehameha," has witnessed significant changes in Honolulu since its arrival in the 1950s.
