The museum's roof offers a modern lookout platform providing panoramic views of the river and the city.

The museum was established in 1883, following the Great Flood of 1879, as a symbol of the city's cultural rebirth. The building was designed by Antal Steinhardt and Adolf Lang and completed in 1896. It was named after Ferenc Móra (1879–1934), the famous Hungarian writer, journalist, and archaeologist who served as the museum's director for two decades and significantly expanded its archaeological collections.

Best Time to Visit
The museum is best visited on weekday mornings to avoid school groups. The rooftop lookout is optimal during the "Golden Hour" (one hour before sunset) for photography of the Tisza River and the Belvárosi Bridge.
Facts & Legends
A verified detail: The museum's facade features the inscription "A közművelődésnek" (To Public Education), which reflects its founding mission. Legend has it that Ferenc Móra used to write many of his famous stories while sitting on the museum's steps, drawing inspiration from the river.
