The dock was constructed in 2008 by the North Country Chamber of Commerce as part of a waterfront revitalization project. Its original purpose was to provide public access for recreational boating, fishing, and scenic viewing of Lake Memphremagog. The lake itself is a glacial lake, formed by the retreat of the Laurentide Ice Sheet approximately 10,000 years ago.
