Reethi Rah Beach is a 1.5 kilometer stretch of sand located on the island of the same name within the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Maldives.

Visual Characteristics

The beach features fine, white coral sand. The water exhibits a gradient from pale turquoise near the shore to deep azure further out. Coconut palms line the landward edge of the beach, providing intermittent shade.

Location & Access Logistics

Reethi Rah Beach is situated on Reethi Rah Island. Access is primarily via speedboat transfer from the domestic airport on Thinadhoo Island (GAF), which is approximately 15 minutes away. Private resort transfers are also available for guests of the Reethi Rah Resort. There is no public road access to the beach itself; access is controlled by the resort. Parking is available at the resort's marina for those arriving by private boat.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The island's formation is typical of Maldivian atolls, resulting from the accumulation of coral polyps over geological time. The beach is a natural accumulation of eroded coral and shell fragments.

Key Highlights & Activities

Swimming is permitted along the entire length of the beach. Snorkeling opportunities exist in the shallow reef areas accessible from the shore. Kayaking and paddleboarding are available for rent at the resort's water sports center.

Restrooms and changing facilities are located at the Reethi Rah Resort beach club. Shade is provided by natural palm cover and resort-provided umbrellas. Cell phone signal (4G) is generally available. Food and beverage services are provided by the Reethi Rah Resort's restaurants and bars.

For photography, the period between 09:00 and 11:00 offers direct sunlight. The dry season, from December to April, provides the most consistent calm weather and clear skies. High tide is generally preferred for swimming and water activities.
