The University of Debrecen is one of Hungary’s oldest and largest continuously operating institutions of higher education. Its main campus is situated within the Great Forest (Nagyerdő) of Debrecen, serving as a landmark of Hungarian academic architecture.

The Main Building is a monumental Neo-Baroque and Eclectic structure completed in 1932. It features a grand central glass-roofed atrium (the Courtyard of Honor) surrounded by arched corridors and stone carvings. The campus also incorporates modern glass-and-steel research facilities and the "Life Sciences" building, which features a contemporary glass facade.
