Public bus services operate frequently between Dambulla and Sigiriya; disembark at the Sigiriya Rock Fortress stop.

The Water Gardens were constructed during the 5th century AD, likely as part of the royal complex associated with King Kasyapa and his palace on Sigiriya Rock.
