Location & Access Logistics

Angkor Borei is situated approximately 10 kilometers south of Takeo town. Access is primarily via National Road 2, turning onto local roads leading to the site. Travel time from Phnom Penh is approximately 2-3 hours by car. Parking is available on-site, with informal arrangements for vehicles. Local boats can also be hired from Takeo town to reach the site, particularly during the wet season when water levels are higher.

Angkor Borei was a significant political and commercial center from at least the 1st century CE, predating the Angkorian Empire. It is believed to have been the capital of the Kingdom of Funan. The site's location on the Tonle Bassac river system facilitated trade and agriculture.
