Caracalla Spa (Caracalla Therme) is a modern thermal bathing complex located in the heart of Baden-Baden's spa district.
Visual Characteristics
The facility is defined by its contemporary architecture, featuring large glass walls and high-ceilinged circular halls. It centers on a large indoor pool under a white-pillared rotunda, complemented by two outdoor marble-lined pools. The design prioritizes transparency and natural light, integrating the surrounding greenery of the Black Forest into the interior view.

The current facility was opened in 1985 to provide a modern, family-friendly alternative to the traditional, textile-free Friedrichsbad located adjacent to it. It is built directly over the "Friedrichsquelle" spring, which originates at a depth of 2,000 meters.

Infrastructure & Amenities
The facility is fully wheelchair accessible. It includes the ThermenRestaurant, a wellness lounge for massages and treatments, and a shop for swimwear and spa products. 5G signal is robust in the reception area.
Best Time to Visit
Weekdays (Mornings): To avoid the high occupancy rates typical of weekends and holidays.
Winter Evenings: When the temperature contrast between the 38°C outdoor pools and the cold air is most pronounced.
Facts & Legends
A technical oddity is the mineral content of the water; it is highly concentrated with sodium chloride and reaches the surface at a natural temperature of approximately 68°C before being cooled for the pools. Legend states that the Roman legionnaires discovered the springs by observing that wounded horses recovered faster after bathing in the local mud.
