Limited street parking is available along Pengkalan Weld, often requiring payment. Bus services, including Rapid Penang routes 101, 102, 103, 104, and 302, stop near the jetty entrance on Pengkalan Weld.

Chew Jetty was established in the late 19th century by Chinese immigrants from the Chew clan. These jetties were originally built to facilitate trade and provide housing for fishermen and laborers. The structures are built over the Penang Strait, an estuarine environment.
