Cove Fort is situated 20 miles south of Beaver, Utah, along Interstate 15. Take Exit 112 and proceed south on State Route 161 for approximately 1 mile. The fort is accessible directly from SR-161. Ample parking is available on-site, adjacent to the visitor center. No public transport services operate directly to the fort.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Construction of Cove Fort began in 1867 and was completed in 1868. It was built under the direction of Brigham Young, then President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to provide a safe stopping point for travelers and a defense against potential conflicts with Native American tribes. The site is located on a basaltic lava flow.
