Historical & Ecological Origin

The garden was established in 2005 by local horticulturists focused on orchid conservation and display. The site is situated within the premontane tropical forest ecosystem of the Chiriquí highlands, characterized by high humidity and moderate temperatures conducive to orchid growth.

Key Highlights & Activities

Visitors can observe orchid species in their naturalistic settings. Guided tours focusing on orchid identification and cultivation are available. Photography of plant specimens is permitted. Self-guided walks along the designated paths are also an option.

Infrastructure & Amenities

Restrooms are available near the entrance. Shaded seating areas are located throughout the garden. Cell phone signal (4G) is generally consistent within the garden. No on-site food vendors are present; however, restaurants and cafes are located in Boquete town, approximately 3 kilometers away.

Best Time to Visit

The garden is open daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For optimal lighting for photography, early morning (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM) or late afternoon (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) is recommended. The peak blooming season for many orchid species occurs between April and September, coinciding with the wetter months.

Facts & Legends

A specific section of the garden is dedicated to the research and propagation of the national flower of Panama, the Holy Ghost Orchid (Peristeria elata). Local folklore suggests that the unique shape of the Holy Ghost Orchid's bloom resembles a dove in flight, bringing good fortune to those who find it.
