Access is via the RN2 highway (Gisenyi-Karongi Road), followed by a secondary unpaved track leading toward the lakefront. While there is no direct public bus stop, the site is a prominent landmark along the Congo Nile Trail and is easily accessible by private boat from Gisenyi's main docks.

Minazi Cove is a natural inlet formed by the volcanic topography of the Albertine Rift. Its name, "Minazi," refers to the coconut trees (iminazi in Kinyarwanda) that were planted along the shore to enhance the tropical environment. It was developed into a managed beach club to provide a controlled environment for kayaking and swimming in Lake Kivu's deep, gas-rich waters.
