The turnoff to the overlook is clearly marked. Paved road access leads directly to the site. Parking is available in a designated gravel lot adjacent to the viewing platform. No public transport services this location.

The months of June through September offer the most stable weather conditions with less chance of snow or extreme cold. High winds can occur year-round, particularly in the afternoons.

The Pinedale Anticline is one of the largest natural gas fields in Wyoming. The geological forces that created the anticline are the same forces that uplifted the nearby Wind River Range. A specific tip for visitors is to look for pronghorn antelope grazing in the sagebrush flats, especially during dawn and dusk.
