Ba Na Hills is a mountain resort complex located in the Truong Son Mountains, west of Da Nang, Vietnam.

The resort is situated at an elevation of 1,487 meters (4,879 feet) above sea level.

Visual Characteristics

The resort features a French village architectural style, with buildings constructed from stone and painted in pastel colors. Structures include chateaux, churches, and cobblestone streets. The Golden Bridge, a prominent feature, is a pedestrian bridge supported by two large concrete hands, with a length of 150 meters (490 feet). The surrounding landscape is characterized by dense forestation and cooler mountain air.

Location & Access Logistics

Ba Na Hills is approximately 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) west of Da Nang city center. Access is primarily via the Ba Na Cable Car, one of the longest non-stop single-track cable cars in the world, departing from Suoi Mo station. Private vehicles can reach the base station, with parking available. Public bus routes from Da Nang to Ba Na Hills are limited; private car or taxi services are more common.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Ba Na Hills was originally developed as a hill station by the French colonial administration in 1919. It served as a retreat for French officials seeking cooler temperatures. The area is part of the Truong Son mountain range, known for its diverse flora and fauna, though the resort itself is heavily developed.

Key Highlights & Activities

Activities include walking across the Golden Bridge, exploring the French Village, visiting the Linh Ung Pagoda, and experiencing the Fantasy Park amusement area. The Debay Wine Cellar, an 100-year-old wine tunnel carved into the mountain, is also accessible. Various themed gardens are present, such as the Le Jardin D'Amour gardens.

Infrastructure & Amenities

The resort complex includes multiple hotels, restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. Restrooms are available throughout the complex. Shaded areas are provided by structures and trees. Cell phone signal (4G/5G) is generally available. Food vendors and sit-down dining options are present within the resort.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit for favorable weather is from April to August, when temperatures are mildest. Mornings offer clearer skies and better lighting for photography, particularly for the Golden Bridge. The resort operates year-round, but fog can reduce visibility during certain periods.

Facts & Legends

A local legend suggests that the mountain was named "Ba Na" after a beautiful woman who lived there. Historically, the French built over 20 villas on the mountain, most of which have since deteriorated or been rebuilt.
