Construction of Dragon Bridge commenced on July 19, 2009, and it was inaugurated on March 29, 2013. The project was designed by the US-based firm Ammann & Whitney Consulting Engineers and the Vietnamese firm Thang Long Project Management Consultancy. Its purpose is to alleviate traffic congestion and serve as a significant tourist attraction.
