There are no direct public bus routes to the site.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The hill's geological formation is a result of ancient limestone deposition and subsequent erosion. Historically, Phnom Sampov served as a strategic defensive position. During the Khmer Rouge regime, the caves were utilized as execution sites, earning them the designation "Killing Caves." The temples at the summit are more recent constructions, dating from the late 20th century onwards.

The best time of day for photography is late afternoon, approximately one hour before sunset, for optimal lighting conditions. The dry season, from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather. Visiting during the late afternoon allows for the bat exodus viewing.
Facts & Legends
A local legend states that the hill was formed from the body of a giant woman named Sampov. A specific tip for visitors is to bring insect repellent, especially for the evening bat viewing, as mosquitoes can be present.
