The lower tier forms a deeper pool, with water falling about 8 meters over a rocky ledge into a clear, turquoise pool. The surrounding vegetation is dense tropical rainforest, with large trees and moss-covered rocks.

Phnom Kulen Waterfall is situated approximately 48 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap city center. Access is primarily via a paved road leading into Phnom Kulen National Park. The final approach to the waterfall involves a short walk from the designated parking area. Private taxis and tuk-tuks are the most common modes of transport from Siem Reap. Public transport directly to the waterfall is not available.
Historical & Ecological Origin
The waterfall is part of the Phnom Kulen mountain range, a significant geological formation composed primarily of sandstone. Historically, Phnom Kulen was the site of the ancient city of Mahendraparvata, established in the 9th century, making it the birthplace of the Khmer Empire. The waterfall itself is a natural feature shaped by erosion over millennia.
