The hill is situated in the central part of Kano city. Access is via several unpaved paths originating from the Fagge and Kofar Wambai areas. Driving directly to the summit is not feasible; parking is available at the base near the Kofar Wambai market. Public transport within Kano, such as taxis and commercial motorcycles (achaba), can reach the vicinity of the hill's base.

Dala Hill is a natural granite inselberg, a remnant of ancient geological processes. Historically, it is recognized as the original settlement site of Kano, dating back to at least the 11th century. It was the location of the first walled settlement of the Kanawa people.

Facts & Legends

Legend states that the hill was named after Dala, a hunter who settled there and established the first community. It is also believed to be the site where the legendary figure Bayajidda killed the snake that was preventing access to water for the people of Kano.
