Fort Siloso Skywalk is an elevated pedestrian walkway located in the Western Region of Singapore. It provides a 1.3-kilometer aerial pathway through the secondary forest canopy.

Visual Characteristics

The Skywalk is constructed from steel and timber, reaching a height of 11 stories (approximately 50 meters) above ground level. Its design incorporates viewing platforms and interpretive panels. The surrounding environment consists of dense secondary forest vegetation.

Location & Access Logistics

The Skywalk is situated on Sentosa Island. Access is via Sentosa Gateway, leading to Siloso Road. Parking is available at the Sentosa main car parks. Public transport options include the Sentosa Express monorail (Beach Station, then transfer to bus service 1 or 2 to Siloso Beach) or bus services 123 and RWS8 which stop near the entrance.

Historical & Ecological Origin

The Skywalk is part of Fort Siloso, a historical fort built by the British in the late 19th century to defend Singapore. The surrounding forest is a secondary growth forest, regenerating after historical land use.

Key Highlights & Activities

Walk the 1.3km elevated pathway. Observe the forest canopy from above. Access historical exhibits within Fort Siloso. Photography of the forest and fort structures is permitted.

Infrastructure & Amenities

Restrooms are available at the base of the Skywalk and within Fort Siloso. Shaded areas are present along the walkway. Cell phone signal (4G/5G) is generally available. Food vendors are located at Siloso Beach, a short walk from the Skywalk entrance.

Best Time to Visit

For optimal lighting for photography, early morning (08:00-10:00) or late afternoon (16:00-18:00) is recommended. The weather in Singapore is tropical year-round; however, the period from February to April generally experiences less rainfall.

Facts & Legends

During World War II, Fort Siloso was one of the few fortifications in Singapore not to be captured by Japanese forces. A specific tip for visitors is to look for the various bird species that inhabit the secondary forest canopy.
