Visual Characteristics

The tower's primary structure is a slender, reinforced concrete shaft supporting a three-tiered observation deck and a distinctive spire. The shaft is white, with the observation decks and spire featuring metallic silver and blue accents. The observation decks are enclosed with large glass panels, offering panoramic views.

The Stratosphere Tower is situated at 2000 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89104, approximately 1.5 miles north of the Las Vegas Strip's central section. Access is directly from Las Vegas Boulevard South. Ample paid parking is available in the attached casino resort's parking garage. The Deuce bus line (RTC Southern Nevada) stops directly in front of the property, serving routes along The Strip and to downtown Las Vegas.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Construction of the Stratosphere Tower began in 1992 and it opened to the public in 1996. It was designed by the architectural firm of T.D.S. & Associates and built by Perini Building Company. The tower was originally conceived as part of a larger casino resort project.

Key Highlights & Activities

Visitors can ascend to the observation decks for 360-degree views of the Las Vegas Valley. The tower features thrill rides including the Big Shot, Insanity, and X-Scream. SkyJump Las Vegas offers a controlled freefall experience from the 108th floor. Dining options include the Top of the World revolving restaurant.

Infrastructure & Amenities

Restrooms are available on the observation decks and within the casino resort. Shade is provided by the observation deck structures and within the casino. Cell phone signal (4G/5G) is generally strong throughout the tower and surrounding areas. Food and beverage services are available at the tower's restaurants and bars, as well as within the adjacent casino resort.

Best Time to Visit

For photography, the hour after sunset provides city lights illumination, while the hour before sunrise offers natural light on the landscape. The months of March through May and September through November generally offer the most temperate weather for outdoor activities. The tower operates year-round, with no specific tide requirements.

Facts & Legends

The Stratosphere Tower was once the site of a controversial bungee jumping operation that was later discontinued due to safety concerns and public perception. The tower's height is equivalent to approximately 100 stories.
