The memorial is constructed from white Colorado Yule marble. It features a Greek Doric temple design, measuring 19 feet wide and 30 feet deep. The central chamber houses a large seated statue of Abraham Lincoln, 19 feet tall. The interior walls are inscribed with Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address and his Gettysburg Address. The exterior is surrounded by a colonnade of 36 Doric columns, representing the 36 states at the time of Lincoln's death.
