Visual Characteristics

The memorial consists of two 246-foot-long black granite walls, angled to form a "V" shape. The walls are inscribed with the names of over 58,000 service members. The granite is polished to a mirror-like finish, reflecting the surrounding landscape and visitors. The memorial is set into the ground, with the walls descending into the earth.
