The street is furnished with benches, planters containing tropical vegetation, and public art installations. The width of the promenade averages 100 feet.

The Miami-Dade Transit bus routes 120 and S provide service to Lincoln Road.

Historical & Ecological Origin

Lincoln Road was originally conceived as a residential street in the 1910s by developer Carl G. Fisher. It was redeveloped into a shopping district in the 1950s and officially became a pedestrian mall in 1960, designed by architect Morris Lapidus. The area is situated on a barrier island formed by sand deposition and coral reef structures.

Key Highlights & Activities

Activities include shopping at retail stores, dining at restaurants and cafes, attending performances at the New World Symphony, and viewing public art. The promenade is suitable for walking and people-watching. Art galleries and cinemas are also present.

Infrastructure & Amenities

Restrooms are available in select retail establishments and public facilities. Shade is provided by awnings, umbrellas, and mature trees. Cell phone signal (4G/5G) is generally strong throughout the promenade. Numerous food vendors and restaurants are located directly on Lincoln Road.

Best Time to Visit

The best time for photography is during the morning or late afternoon to avoid harsh midday sun. The most comfortable months for visiting are from November to April, with average temperatures ranging from 70°F to 80°F. Evening hours offer a cooler atmosphere for dining and strolling.

Facts & Legends

Lincoln Road was once known as "Fifth Avenue of the South" due to its upscale retail offerings. A specific tip for visitors is to explore the side streets branching off Lincoln Road for smaller boutiques and less crowded dining options.
