The building was constructed in 1895 by architect M. M. Aliyev. It served as a residential building before being converted into a museum dedicated to Uzeyir Hajibeyov, a prominent Azerbaijani composer, conductor, publicist, playwright, and translator, in 1975. Hajibeyov lived in this apartment from 1918 to 1948.
