Historical & Ecological Origin

The Palacio de Bellas Artes was inaugurated in 1955, designed by architect Carlos Maruri and engineer Gustavo Rodríguez. Its original purpose was to serve as a fine arts museum. The Edificio de Arte Cubano was completed in 1990, designed to house the museum's extensive collection of Cuban art from the 20th century onwards.
